Mr Joseph Calleja

Joe Calleja has forty years’ experience in working with the community sector. He has been a member of the Senior Executive Service of the Western Australian state government, Principal Social Worker in Child Protection, on the Executive of Anglicare Western Australia and recently retired as CEO of Richmond Wellbeing (formerly Richmond Fellowship of Western Australia) after ten years of service.
He has held positions including President of the Western Australia Association for Mental Health (WAAMH), Board of Community Employers Western Australia (CEWA), the National Vice President and State President of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Board of WACOSS and Family Services Australia, National Marriage and Family Council, Advisory Committee of the Arts Faculty (UWA), and the Mental Health Advisory Council of Western Australia.
He is currently a member of the Centre for Social Impact Advisory Committee in Western Australia. He was a high school teacher for five years before retraining as a Social Worker in 1980.
He and Dianne have two adult sons. Following his recent retirement, he has begun to learn the piano, draw cartoons and live a more leisurely life.
