SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO GIVE VOICE TO MANY
The 12th Biennial Asia Pacific International Conference Scholarship Program was designed to ensure people in recovery and their families have a significant role in the conference.
It was also designed to support the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people from rural and remote Australia.
Applications were received from prospective delegates and presenters who outlined how they would engage in and utilise learnings from the Conference to promote recovery.
With the generous support from the Estate of the late Betty Davies and the National Disability Conference Initiative 2016 -17 (under the Disabilities and Carers Programme), thirty-six national and international applicants were offered full or partial scholarships, totaling over $26,000.
The Conference Convenor and Committee are pleased the Scholarship Program has achieved its purpose, ensuring the voices of people otherwise unable to participate are able to do so and take their learnings to their own communities.
